Welcome to 2017

Dear parents and guardians,

Welcome to Grade Four! I am pleased to welcome you to the 2017 school year. I am looking forward to having your child as a student and hope to meet you soon. Year Four is such a fun year with so many wonderful activities to celebrate! In order to have a fun year, my most important goal is to create a family of learners in my classroom. I am committed to establishing a classroom environment where your child is valued, trusted, and an integral part of our family of learners. In order to accomplish this, I have planned a variety of activities to emphasise and reinforce this goal. It is my hope that you will support and encourage this vision at home.

Parents, family members, and guardians are the driving force in their child's life. I encourage you to show your concern by asking your child about the school day and making sure assigned homework is completed and returned to school. Please refer to our twitter and class blog for updates on your child's learning journey in the fourth grade.

In our classroom, we use Twitter to support teaching and learning and to connect students with the broader community. You can follow me here. You can download the free app for iPad, iPhone, Android or Windows devices through the App Store. Then sign up or sign in and follow our class twitter account. We will be using this daily to tweet our learning adventures! You can set up your account to notify you each time a tweet is posted.

Communication and feedback are vital to the success of our classroom. I will be using email as my main form of contact this year. I would like to be able to contact all parents via email, so please ensure the office has a copy of your email address (or just send me an email).

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to email me at anytime (dmitchell@bne.catholic.edu.au) and I will get back to you shortly!

I look forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth.

Mr Mitchell
